Gold Price Surge Across Pakistan Yet Again

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan recorded a massive increase today, with the price of per tola gold rising by 5,100 rupees to reach 454,336 rupees.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association, gold prices have surged by a total of 26,400 rupees over the past three days of continuous increases.

Globally, the price of gold went up by 51 dollars, reaching 4,319 dollars per ounce.

Gold Market Dynamics in 2026

The year 2026 has proven to be exceptionally volatile and transformative for the global gold market, driven by persistent geopolitical friction, shifting monetary policies, and fluctuating central bank reserves.

Globally, international bullion prices have hovered around the $4,300 per ounce threshold after experiencing dramatic peaks earlier in the period. Major financial institutions like J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs initially projected aggressive upward targets, though shifting U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate expectations introduced bouts of consolidation and short-term market corrections.

Despite these fluctuations, robust safe-haven demand and long-term hedging strategies have kept gold structurally supported at elevated historical levels.

Gold Republic

In domestic markets, such as in Pakistan, these international trends—compounded by local currency valuations—have translated into staggering domestic highs.

Rates per tola frequently test unprecedented extremes, stretching past the Rs. 430,000 threshold. Local Sarafa markets have witnessed rapid, multi-thousand-rupee spikes driven by global imported inflation and strong domestic hedging.

Consequently, gold remains a high-stakes arena in 2026, serving both as a crucial protector of wealth against currency depreciation and a heavily reactive asset to global macroeconomic shifts.
