PANJGUR: Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, targeting militants linked to the group referred to by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al Hindustan, officials said on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, security forces raided suspected hideouts of operatives affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). During the operation, three militants were killed and a large quantity of contraband was recovered from their possession.
Security sources said the slain operatives were allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting local residents and businesses in the area.
The operation came hours after suspected BLA militants reportedly launched attacks along the Panjgur–Chedgi route. According to local sources, armed assailants targeted trailer trucks and engaged in an exchange of fire with security personnel.
At least seven trailer trucks were set ablaze and destroyed during the incident, although officials have yet to release details regarding possible casualties.
The security situation has also disrupted commercial transport routes connecting Pakistan with Iran. Authorities said nearly 400 LPG bowser trucks remain stranded near the Taftan border due to security concerns.
Officials added that the stranded vehicles will be moved under Pakistan Army escort to ensure their safe passage. The disruption in transportation has contributed to LPG shortages and rising prices in several parts of the country, particularly in Punjab, where supply constraints have begun to affect local markets.
Security forces continue clearance and search operations in the affected areas as efforts intensify to restore normalcy and secure key transit corridors in southwestern Balochistan.
