GHQ to Host Ceremony Marking First Anniversary of Marka-e-Haq Victory

RAWALPINDI: A solemn ceremony will be held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Saturday at 8:40 am to mark the first anniversary of the “Marka-e-Haq” victory, a military operation against Indian aggression of 2025, officials said.

The event will be attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir as the chief guest. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf will also participate.

According to official details, senior military leadership will lay floral wreaths at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Monument of Martyrs) in tribute to fallen personnel. A smartly turned-out contingent from the three armed forces will present a ceremonial guard of honour. Field Marshal Asim Munir is also scheduled to address the gathering.

Officials said the anniversary marks Pakistan’s response to what it described as Indian aggression following the April 22, 2025 false flag attack in Pahalgam that New Delhi blamed on Islamabad, a charge Pakistan rejected.

Tensions escalated after India launched cross-border strikes on May 7 under “Operation Sindoor,” claiming to target militant infrastructure inside Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. Pakistan said civilian areas were hit and responded days later with “Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos,” targeting Indian military installations. Pakistan had downed 8 Indian fighter jets including three most advanced Rafale jets.

Officials said the Marka-e-Haq observance reaffirms Pakistan’s stance of responding decisively to any external aggression.
