Five people killed in different firing incidents in Balochistan

DERA MURAD JAMALI: At least five people were killed in separate firing incidents in Balochistan across Dera Murad Jamali, Tamboo, and Dera Bugti areas.

According to police sources, in the Tamboo Manjho Shori area within the jurisdiction of the local police station, armed assailants opened fire on the young son of tribal notable Miran Bakhsh Umrani at Chalis Dip, killing him on the spot before escaping.

In another incident at Tamboo 29 Dip, unidentified gunmen fatally shot a man identified as Subhani Khan Umrani during the night and fled the scene.

Meanwhile, in Sui Dhadhar, Dera Bugti, a man shot dead his younger brother, Lachu alias Kaka Peeruzani Bugti, following a domestic dispute, and managed to escape.

In Dera Murad Jamali, a Hindu trader named Roshan Kumar, who had been injured during a robbery four days earlier, succumbed to his injuries while under treatment in hospital.

Following his death, members of the trader community staged a protest by placing his body on the National Highway, blocking the road and demanding justice.

Separately, in Hyderabad, Sindh, an engineer from Jaffarabad, Abdul Aziz Khosa, was shot dead by unidentified assailants who managed to flee after the attack.

Police have launched investigations into all incidents and increased patrols in the affected areas.

Incidents of targeted killings in Balochistan are frequently linked to tribal rivalries, land disputes, and honour-related conflicts, which remain deeply rooted in the province’s social fabric.

Centuries-old traditions and a weak law enforcement framework often allow such violent confrontations to persist without accountability.

Blood feuds between tribes, revenge attacks, and competition over land or resources frequently escalate into fatal shootings, disrupting peace and stability.

Honour killings, too, remain a grim reality in some regions, where outdated customs override the rule of law.

Security experts believe that resolving these issues requires not only effective policing and judicial action but also long-term social reforms, tribal reconciliation efforts, and community-level awareness to reduce violence and strengthen the writ of the state.
