RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) Wah, the country’s largest defence industrial complex, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit focused on reviewing POF’s production capacity, export potential and role in strengthening Pakistan’s domestic defence industrial base.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was briefed on various activities of POF and its contribution to national defence through the indigenous production of a wide range of military equipment.
The army chief and CDF also witnessed the testing and trial phases of weapons and ammunition designed and manufactured locally.
The visit highlighted POF’s commitment to innovation, self-reliance and enhancing its defence production capabilities, the ISPR said.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was also briefed on progress in the corporatisation of POF following the implementation of the Defence Industry Production Reforms Act (DEPRA) Ordinance.
He was further briefed on ongoing initiatives aimed at increasing local production and industrial capacity, particularly the installation of two new industrial plants, which are expected to commence production by the end of this year.
The visit reaffirmed the military leadership’s commitment to promoting self-reliance, indigenous production and technological innovation in the defence sector, according to the ISPR.
