Federal Govt announces major reduction in petrol and diesel prices on third day of Eid

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a significant reduction in petroleum prices, providing major relief to the public on the third day of Eid.

The statement said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had previously promised the nation that relief would be provided to the people as soon as economic conditions allowed, and the government has now fulfilled that commitment.

In this regard, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs22 per litre, while diesel prices have also been cut by the same amount. The government described the move as part of its continued efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens amid challenging economic circumstances.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that providing relief to the people remains one of his top priorities. He noted that the government had also reduced fuel prices during the previous week in order to support the public.

The federal government continued its relief measures for citizens even during the most difficult economic conditions. The government highlighted that subsidies were provided on fuel for public transport, goods transport vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws in order to reduce the impact of rising costs on daily life.

The statement further focused on that while several countries in the region experienced fuel shortages and long queues at petrol stations, Pakistan managed to maintain a stable supply of petrol and diesel due to timely measures taken by the government.

The Prime Minister’s Office also said that during the global oil crisis, when international oil prices were increasing sharply, the government prevented a major rise in domestic fuel prices by providing subsidies exceeding Rs130.

These subsidies, the statement added, were aimed at ensuring maximum relief for the public despite pressure from global markets.
