‘Everything destroyed’: Israeli border Mayor fault govt

ISRAEL: Local council leaders in northern Israel have sharply criticized the Netanyahu government, accusing it of insufficient measures to protect citizens amid ongoing hostilities with Hezbollah.

The mayor of the northern Israeli town of Margaliot lamented the widespread destruction caused by Hezbollah attacks, saying that “everything has been destroyed.” He added that no country is ready to support Israel, expressing frustration over the lack of adequate assistance.

Similarly, the mayor of Kiryat Shmona issued a scathing critique of the government, warning that the city is being “completely wiped out.” He noted that two-thirds of its citizens have already left their homes and warned that if the situation continues, even more residents will be forced to flee.

The criticism reflects growing discontent among local authorities along Israel’s northern border, where communities have faced sustained rocket fire and cross-border attacks. Government officials have not yet responded to the mayors’ remarks.

Meanwhile Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to the Russian government and people for their strong support during the ongoing war with the United States.

According to international news agencies, President Pezeshkian said in a statement released on social media that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s messages and the support of the Russian people are encouraging for the Iranian nation. He added that this encouragement will lay the foundation for new relations between countries in the region in the future.

The Iranian president thanked Russia for its backing and said the cooperation is not only important in the current situation but will also be helpful for regional security in the future. He further stated that countries in the region should ensure their own security and reject external pressure.
