QUETTA : Earthquake tremors were felt in Windar and surrounding in Balochistan.

The details suggest that earthquake tremors were felt in Windar, a southern city of Balochistan.

The magnitude recorded on the rector scale was 4.3. A wave of fear spread across the city and the people came out of their houses.

The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers underground.

It is worth mentioning that there are numerous incidents of tremors in many areas of Baluchistan.

Apart from the one in Musa Khel, no recent incident has been much devastating but there is a feeling of fright and anxiety among people whenever any such incident take place.

Over the past twenty years, the world has witnessed several devastating earthquakes that caused significant loss of life and property.

Notable among them was the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, which struck on December 26 and measured 9.1–9.3 in magnitude.

It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history, killing over 230,000 people across 14 countries.

Similarly, the 2010 Haiti earthquake (magnitude 7.0) led to over 200,000 deaths and left millions homeless, highlighting the vulnerability of poor infrastructure in disaster-prone areas.

Other major events include the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China, which killed nearly 90,000 people, and the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan (magnitude 9.0), which triggered a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima plant.

More recently, the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.5, caused over 50,000 deaths and widespread destruction.
