ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of northern Pakistan, including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Shangla, Buner and Malakand, officials said.
According to the seismic monitoring centre, the tremors were also felt in Swat and surrounding areas, prompting people to rush out of their homes in panic.
The earthquake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale, with a recorded depth of 191 kilometres.
Authorities said the epicentre was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountain range.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage were received.
