QUETTA: Four separate fatalities have been reported across Balochistan in incidents involving a targeted shooting, a drowning, and a hazardous mining accident.
Near Gahi Khan Chowk in Quetta, unidentified armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire, killing a 30-year-old man on the spot before fleeing the scene.
According to a spokesperson for Chhipa Welfare Balochistan, the deceased has been identified as Ali Ahmed, son of Sultan, belonging to the Ababaki tribe.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy who had been missing for the past two days was found dead in a canal on the outskirts of Osta Muhammad.
Police and family sources stated that the child, identified as Muhammad Yasin, son of Nur Muhammad from the Burro tribe and a resident of Goth Mir Chakar Khan Jamali, went missing two days ago.
His body was spotted floating in the “Hadiro Shakh” canal, recovered by police, and handed over to the family after completing post-mortem and legal formalities.
In a third incident, occurring in the Shahrag coal mine area of Harnai, two miners tragically lost their lives when a heavy mudslide collapsed on them.
Police sources confirmed that the accident occurred at Mine No. 5 while the workers were deep inside excavation tunnels.
Local rescue teams, fellow miners, and police rushed to the site to recover the bodies, which were then shifted to a nearby hospital for identification.
