Date of the budget meeting has been revealed

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the summoning of separate budget sessions of both houses of Parliament, paving the way for the formal consideration of the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

The budget session of the National Assembly of Pakistan will be held on June 5 at 5:00 PM, while the session of the Senate of Pakistan is scheduled for the same day at 6:00 PM.

The sessions are expected to focus on the presentation, discussion, and scrutiny of budget proposals along with key financial matters.

In this regard, government officials have stated that extensive consultations have already been conducted on the federal budget, with several proposals under consideration regarding salary increases for government employees and pension adjustments for retired individuals.

These measures are being reviewed as part of efforts to provide relief to the salaried class and pensioners amid ongoing economic challenges.

The upcoming budget is expected to be framed in line with IMF recommendations and fiscal guidelines, with most technical discussions reportedly in their final stages.

The government has reasserted its commitment to balancing fiscal discipline with public relief measures. Officials suggest that priority is being given to easing financial pressure on low and middle-income groups, particularly salaried individuals who have been affected by inflationary trends.

In this sense, the Adviser to the Prime Minister and Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan stated that the government is actively working to incorporate public-friendly measures in the budget.

He focused on that efforts are underway to provide meaningful relief to salaried employees, while maintaining overall economic stability.

The parliamentary proceedings during the upcoming sessions are expected to be closely watched, as lawmakers debate revenue measures, expenditure priorities, and broader economic reforms. The federal budget will play a key role in setting the direction of fiscal policy for the next financial year.
