Bugti says merit and anti-corruption efforts gaining public support in Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has stated that “baseless and misleading propaganda against the state” is a primary driver of chaos and violence, asserting that presenting factual narratives to the public, especially youth, is the critical remedy.

Presiding over a meeting of the Balochistan Center of Excellence on Counter Violent Extremism on Tuesday, CM Bugti emphasized the center’s role as a vital platform for research and awareness to combat extremist ideologies. He stressed that defeating extremism requires “institutional cooperation, integrated strategies and measures in line with modern requirements.”

The chief minister outlined a plan to promote “positive, constructive and factual narratives” through educational institutions and social media to shield the younger generation from malign influences. “The involvement and awareness of the youth is essential for the establishment of sustainable peace and order,” he stated, adding that the provincial government is taking comprehensive steps in this direction.

The high-level meeting, attended by the chief secretary, IG police, and senior security officials, reviewed the law and order situation and the ongoing anti-extremism strategy.

In a related development, CM Bugti announced on social media platform X that the Levies Force has been fully merged with the Balochistan Police. He described this as ending a “long-standing administrative ambiguity,” which will strengthen the state’s responsibility for public protection and ensure uniform law implementation across the province
