China plans to build 100 hospitals, economic zones in Balochistan: Envoy

ISLAMABAD: China plans to construct 100 hospitals and establish new economic zones in Balochistan to create employment opportunities and improve water resource management, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said during a meeting of the Pakistan-China Friendship Group at Parliament House.

As per details, the meeting was chaired by Senator Sherry Rehman and attended by senior parliamentarians from across Pakistan along with a high-level Chinese delegation.

Ambassador Jiang said Beijing remains committed to deepening its “ironclad, all-weather friendship” with Pakistan. He added that China seeks to enhance cooperation in the education sector through student exchange programs and technical training initiatives.

The envoy praised the participation of senators representing all regions of Pakistan and expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between the two nations will continue to grow stronger over time.

The announcement reflects Beijing’s continued focus on expanding development and infrastructure cooperation in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, under the broader framework of China-Pakistan economic and social collaboration.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, last month, during his visit to China, had said that Pakistan-China friendship is built on mutual trust, respect, and sincere affection, and has stood the test of time.

In his address to faculty members and students at Tianjin University, the Prime Minister expressed pride in being at the institution, recalling his first visit in 2017.

He praised Tianjin University as a premier center of learning that has produced distinguished scientists and thinkers, noting that its graduates have played a vital role in China’s development journey.
