BEIJING: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a special ceremony in Beijing on Tuesday marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Addressing the event, Shehbaz Sharif praised China’s economic transformation and described the country as a model for the world.
“China has achieved unmatched progress over the past 75 years and has become an example for other nations,” he said.
The prime minister said relations between Pakistan and China had reached an extraordinary level with few parallels in modern diplomacy.
He described China as a leading global economic power and recalled Beijing’s support for Pakistan during the devastating 2010 floods.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for lifting millions of people out of poverty under his leadership.
He said China’s efforts for regional peace, development and prosperity were commendable.
According to the prime minister, Xi believes in resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiations.
The ceremony concluded with Sharif and China’s vice president cutting a commemorative cake to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
