ISLAMABAD: China has expressed deep concern over rising tensions between Pakistan and India. On Wednesday, it called for calm and restraint. It urged both countries to prioritise peace and avoid steps that could worsen the situation.
In an official statement, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the recent Indian aggression against Pakistan “regrettable.” It repeated China’s firm support for regional stability.
“We are seriously concerned about the evolving situation in South Asia,” said a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry. “We urge both Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that may escalate the conflict.”
The spokesperson also stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy. “Peace must be given a chance first,” they added.
This statement came as military activity increased along the Line of Control. Pakistan claimed it shot down several Indian jets, including Rafale and Sukhoi aircraft. It called the move a “timely and proportionate response” to Indian airspace violations.
