Eight Children Killed in Louisiana

Shreveport, Louisiana :  Eight children were killed and two others wounded in a mass shooting on Sunday morning that stemmed from a domestic disturbance, authorities said.

Shreveport Police responded to the 300 block of West 79th Street shortly after 6 a.m. following reports of gunfire.

Police spokesperson Christopher Bordelon described the scene as extensive, spanning multiple locations including two homes on West 79th Street and another on nearby Harrison Street.

Ten people in total were shot. All victims were children between the ages of 1 and 14.

Eight of them died from their injuries.

After carrying out the shooting, the suspect carjacked a vehicle near the scene.

Police pursued the vehicle, and during the chase in Bossier Parish, officers shot and killed the suspect.

Authorities believe he was the only shooter involved and said some of the children killed were his descendants.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux called the incident one of the worst tragedies in the city’s history, saying the community is in deep mourning.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to process the multiple crime scenes.
