Changes in prices of petroleum products, notification of major reduction issued

The federal government has revised petroleum product prices, leading to record-high rates for petrol and high-speed diesel, while providing significant relief in the price of kerosene oil.

The new prices were announced through an official notification issued after the latest review of global oil market trends and domestic pricing adjustments.

The price of kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs41.80 per litre. The new price of kerosene oil has been fixed at Rs318.96 per litre. The reduction is expected to provide relief to consumers, particularly those in remote and cold regions where kerosene is widely used for cooking and heating purposes.

The government increased the price of petrol by Rs14.92 per litre. With the latest hike, the new petrol price has reached Rs414.78 per litre, marking one of the highest fuel rates in the country’s history.

The increase is likely to further raise transportation costs and inflationary pressure on the general public.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been increased by Rs15 per litre. The revised price of diesel now stands at Rs414.58 per litre. High-speed diesel is mainly used in heavy transport vehicles, agriculture machinery, and industrial sectors; therefore, the increase may have a direct impact on the prices of essential commodities and logistics operations across the country.

The government reduced the price of light diesel oil by Rs21.07 per litre. Following the cut, the new rate of light diesel oil has been fixed at Rs265.84 per litre. The reduction may provide some relief to small industries and low-income consumers who rely on light diesel for various purposes.

Meanwhile, jet fuel prices witnessed a sharp increase. The price of aviation fuel used in aircraft has been raised by Rs53.11 per litre. As a result, the new price of jet fuel has climbed from Rs388.55 to Rs441.66 per litre.
