CM Bugti vows timely completion of Green Bus Service expansion

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has moved forward with a significant initiative to enhance urban mobility, focusing on improving access to critical healthcare facilities. A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, was convened to review the project for extending the provincial capital’s Green Bus Service to the Health Services Projects Area.

The session involved a detailed review of the expansion project’s progress, proposed new bus routes, and strategies to elevate the quality of public transport. The primary goal is to facilitate easier and more timely travel for citizens, with a special emphasis on patients, their attendants, and medical staff commuting to the major health precinct.

During the briefing, officials highlighted how the service extension would directly benefit the public by improving connectivity to essential health services. In his address, Chief Minister Bugti underscored the provincial government’s commitment to providing modern, safe, and high-quality urban transport. He declared it a top priority for his administration.

The Chief Minister issued strict directives to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe without any compromise on service standards. He emphasized that quality, cleanliness, punctuality, and passenger convenience must be upheld. Furthermore, CM Bugti instructed that the new routes be meticulously planned to maximize public benefit, with special consideration for the needs of the elderly, women patients, and persons with disabilities.

The meeting saw participation from key officials including Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Mir Liaqat Ali Lehri, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Zahid Saleem, and senior transport and divisional authorities. Attendees presented various suggestions to ensure the project’s effective and timely implementation, marking a concerted push to upgrade Quetta’s public transport infrastructure.

Meanwhile a high-level grand jirga, convened by Frontier Corps Balochistan North, concluded with a strong consensus on fostering peace, security, and development in the region. The gathering in Nasirabad Division brought together key provincial leadership, military officials, and a large assembly of tribal elders.

Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, addressing the attendees, lauded tribal communities as steadfast partners of the state. He underscored the necessity of a unified strategy to ensure lasting peace, the smooth execution of development projects, and a prosperous future for the youth.
