QUETTA: The internal power struggle within the Indian proxy Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has intensified after the killing of its senior commander, Captain Rahman Gul, in Afghanistan.
According to credible sources, Rahman Gul was eliminated by none other than Majeed Brigade’s head, Basheer Zaeb, in a revenge-driven move. The brother of Basheer Zaeb, who heads the BLA operational wing Majeed Brigade, was killed by Captain Rahman Gul.
The assassination reportedly followed disputes over money distribution and influence within the militant network.
The killing is said to have been facilitated by Sapari, acting on instructions from Majrang Baloch, who allegedly sought a larger financial share from the group’s foreign funding channels.
It is pertinent to mention here that the senior commander of the Indian proxy BLA, designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, has been killed in Afghanistan, on Wednesday.
Captain Rahman Gul, also known by his nom de guerre Ustad Mureed, was shot dead in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. He served as the deputy chief of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade, a suicide squad blamed for some of the group’s deadliest operations.
Gul was identified as the mastermind of the 2017 Jaffar Express bombing in Pakistan, which killed dozens of passengers and injured many more. Following the incident and other high-profile attacks, the United States formally listed the BLA as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” organization in 2019.
