QUETTA: In a major push for agricultural development, the Balochistan government has provided interest-free loans amounting to Rs 3.2 billion to 847 farmers under the second phase of the Green Pakistan Initiative.
This was announced by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti in a statement on Wednesday. He detailed that this financial assistance is facilitating the cultivation of a vast expanse of land, with farming activities now made possible on an area of 35,609 acres across the province.
The initiative marks a significant expansion of the government’s commitment to the sector. The Chief Minister highlighted that the first phase of the Green Pakistan Initiative had already seen substantial investment, with interest-free loans worth Rs 6.85 billion provided to 257 farmers previously.
“The Balochistan government is providing financial facilities to poor farmers through the Kisan Card,” CM Bugti stated, emphasizing the administration’s focus on easing the financial burden on the agricultural community.
He further asserted that the provision of interest-free capital is yielding tangible results. “The provision of interest-free loans under the Green Pakistan Initiative is strengthening the agricultural sector and empowering farmers,” he added, noting that the initiative is enabling growers to enhance productivity and contribute to the province’s food security.
