QUETTA: Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has declared that the province must urgently start generating its own income and rely less on money from the federal government.
He stated that this move toward financial self-reliance is crucial for the province’s real development and future prosperity.
Speaking at a meeting of the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA), CM Bugti said that the BRA’s main job is to find new ways to collect revenue, bring more people into the tax system, and build a strong economy for the province.
He emphasized the need for a simple and clear tax system for service industries. Key sectors that will be focused on include telecommunications, insurance, construction, education, and healthcare.
The government plans to use modern technology to make paying taxes easier and more efficient for everyone. CM Bugti said that stopping tax evasion and increasing the province’s own revenue are his top priorities. He explained that Balochistan’s progress depends on generating its own income instead of waiting for funds from the federal government.

During the meeting, officials reviewed a report on the province’s revenue from the last several years. The council decided to tax more types of services and provide special training for tax officers. The Chief Minister also announced that the BRA’s performance will be reviewed regularly to ensure it meets its goals.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani and Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan.
