QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that by-elections for vacant seats of chairmen and vice chairmen of local government bodies in Balochistan will be held tomorrow (Thursday).
According to the provincial election commissioner, all arrangements for the Balochistan LG by-elections have been finalized. The vacant seats include those of Union Council 22 of Surab, Anjira, Mehrabad, and the Surab Municipal Committee.
The statement further said that elections will also take place in Sherani Municipal Committee, Union Council 08, Kech Union Councils 37 and 38, and Zhob District Council.
To ensure transparency, the respective Assistant Commissioners (ACs), Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs), and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been appointed as Returning and Presiding Officers. They will also be vested with magisterial powers on October 1 and 2.

The provincial election commissioner has directed all concerned authorities and institutions to strictly implement the election code of conduct. He added that all polling material for the relevant union councils will be delivered by the end of today.
