QUETTA: The Balochistan government has added nine new, fully equipped ambulances to its emergency medical response system as part of efforts to modernise healthcare services across the province.
The new ambulances have been added to the Medical Emergency Response Centre (MERC) 1122 in Quetta to strengthen its capacity and improve emergency response services.
The ambulances will provide rapid medical assistance to people affected by road accidents, natural disasters and other emergencies. They will also help transport patients to healthcare facilities in a timely manner.
Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar said an emergency response software system would enable the authorities to digitally track ambulances across Balochistan.
He said the government was working to ensure that emergency victims receive immediate medical assistance and reach healthcare facilities without unnecessary delays.
Digital Tracking of Ambulances
Kakar said the government would soon connect all ambulances operating across Balochistan to the MERC 1122 control and command system.
The digital system will allow authorities to monitor ambulance movements more effectively and improve coordination during emergencies. It will also help extend timely emergency medical services to people living in remote parts of the province.
Moreover, the system will improve transparency and monitoring while reducing ambulance response times, the minister said.
The addition of nine new ambulances to MERC 1122 marks a significant step towards strengthening Balochistan’s emergency healthcare infrastructure and improving access to timely medical assistance across the province.
