QUETTA: Railway authorities halted the Quetta-bound Jaffar Express in Sibi on Saturday due to security concerns. Officials confirmed that they stopped the train to ensure passenger safety.

Authorities also cancelled today’s Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express, citing the same security reasons.

Meanwhile, officials suspended mobile phone and internet services across Balochistan. They said the suspension would remain in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.

The Indian proxies- the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Republican Army (BRA), are involved in attacks on passengers trains in Balochistan.

Jaffar Express Hijacking

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on March 11 attacked the Jaffar Express (Quetta to Peshawar), derailing the train and taking hundreds of passengers hostage in the Bolan Pass area.

Jacobabad Track Blast

A bomb detonated near Jacobabad railway station as the Jaffar Express passed, derailing 5–6 coaches on June 18, 2025. No fatalities reported.

Sibi Track Explosion

On July 24, an explosion struck a railway track in Sibi, partially damaging a bogie of the Quetta-bound Bolan Mail train. No injuries or casualties reported.

August 7, 2025, a powerful explosion occurred on the track in Sibi while the Jaffar Express was passing. No loss of life reported; train narrowly escaped the blast.

August 10, 2025, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near Spezand Railway Station in Mastung District. It derailed six coaches of the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express. No fatalities reported.
