Fact Check: Claims of Attacks on Security Forces in Balochistan Proven False

QUETTA: Foreign-backed and militant-linked online accounts have once again attempted to mislead the public by spreading misleading claims targeting ongoing development and security efforts in Balochistan.

The reports were attributed to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Security officials have rejected these claims, calling them part of a broader disinformation campaign.

The Claim

The circulating narrative claimed that security forces’ vehicles were attacked in Kharan and Balgor by the internationally designated terrorist group The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Security officials have rejected these claims, calling them part of a broader disinformation campaign.

Fact Check

Security sources have categorically denied the occurrence of any such attacks in Kharan city or the Balgor area of Kech district.

Officials said the claims are “fabricated, baseless and part of a coordinated propaganda effort.” They added that no security convoy or vehicle attack of the type described took place in the reported areas.

Security officials further stated that such narratives are often circulated by “Indian-sponsored terrorist networks” to create panic and misinformation on social media, while attempting to exaggerate their operational impact.

They reiterated that security forces are actively conducting intelligence-based operations across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against militant groups and sleeper cells.

Officials also highlighted that recent counterterrorism operations have resulted in the elimination of multiple militants across the region. They said these operations continue in a sustained manner to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.

The Verdict

There is no evidence to support the claims of attacks on security forces’ vehicles in Kharan or Balgor. Security officials have denied the incidents and described the reports as propaganda aimed at spreading fear and confusion. The Indian-sponsored Fitna al Hindustan-backed social media accounts continuously spreading disinformation.
