ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced an increase in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices, resulting in a higher cost for domestic consumers across the country.
The revised prices came into effect immediately and will apply throughout June.
The price of LPG has been increased by Rs4.95 per kilogram. Following the latest revision, the new LPG price has been fixed at Rs308.76 per kilogram.
As a result of the increase, the price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has risen by Rs58.51. The new price of the household cylinder has been set at Rs3,643.41 for the month of June.
The regulator stated that the revised prices are effective from today and will be applicable nationwide. The increase is expected to affect households that rely on LPG for cooking and other domestic purposes, particularly in areas where natural gas supply is limited or unavailable.
The increase is also expected to impact commercial users, including restaurants, small businesses, and other enterprises that depend on LPG for daily operations. Higher fuel costs may lead to increased operational expenses for businesses, which could ultimately influence the prices of goods and services.
The announcement comes at a time when economic planning for the new fiscal year is underway. The report indicates that the government is considering a gross domestic product (GDP) growth target of 4 percent for the upcoming fiscal year, while an estimated Rs1.126 trillion has been proposed for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
