QUETTA: The Inspector General (IG) of Police for Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has issued a high-alert warning for a heightened risk of terrorist attacks in Quetta and other districts across the province.
IG Tahir stated that the threat of terrorism has increased significantly following recent regional tensions. He attributed the danger to terrorists operating from Afghanistan after the withdrawal of international forces.
He revealed that security forces have successfully foiled 99 percent of planned terrorist attacks. He described the current conflict as a “hybrid warfare,” requiring different tactics.
The police chief expressed that integrating the Levies force into the police would be a major step in significantly reducing terrorism. He praised the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies for their key role in preventing the vast majority of attacks.

He also commended the force for its historic sacrifices and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to serving the people of Balochistan.
IGP Tahir emphasized that Balochistan is a “bouquet of diverse nations,” whose beauty lies in upholding the rule of law. He highlighted that maintaining order is the top priority of the police, as peace is the fundamental demand of the people and the foundation of development for every progressive nation .
The police chief’s remarks come at a time when security forces in the province continue to face significant challenges. His speech honored the “great sacrifices” made by the people of Balochistan for peace, describing the history written by martyrs as “truly commendable” .
