KALAT: Group of heavily armed militants carried out an illegal road blockade on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway near the Mehlabi area of Kalat. There were several eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, equipped with modern weapons, stopped and checked vehicles passing through the highway, causing fear and disruption among local commuters.
Furthermore, the incident occurred just a few kilometers from Kalat city, where locals claim that dozens of masked gunmen conducted vehicle searches without any legal authority. Fortunately, no casualties or arrests were reported during the incident.
Moreover, various security analysts have identified the perpetrators as operatives linked to banned militant groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF).
These organizations have a long history of violent activities including attacks on security forces, destruction of public infrastructure, and the killing of innocent civilians. Both groups have been declared terrorist outfits by the government and several international organizations, including the United Nations.
The repeated acts of terrorism carried out by these outlawed groups aim to instigate unrest, create fear among the local population, and challenge the writ of the state.
In this regard, the province of Balochistan continues to exhibit remarkable resilience. With massive investment under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), improvements in road infrastructure, education, and healthcare are becoming visible in several areas.
