ISLAMABAD: Australian Foreign Minister Hon. Penny Wong called Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to express her condolences following the tragic loss of innocent lives and the recent attack on the Jaffar Express.
During the conversation, Dar briefed Wong on Pakistan’s response to the incident, emphasizing that the country’s actions were in line with the UN Charter and international law.
He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a responsible role in ensuring regional peace and stability.
Minister Wong conveyed her deep sympathy to the families of the martyred individuals and condemned the Jaffar Express attack.
In a separate development, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy also held a phone conversation with Ishaq Dar.
The two ministers discussed the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India over the past week. Additionally, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister engaged with France’s Foreign Minister, who expressed strong support for the ceasefire, stressing the importance of regional peace and stability.
