Pakistan rejects claims of downing F16 and JF-17 aircrafts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security officials have strongly rejected Indian claims regarding the downing of Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 and JF-17 Thunder jets, as well as alleged attacks on Indian military sites in Pathankot, Amritsar, Jammu, and Kashmir.

According to military sources, India is deliberately attempting to incite animosity among the Sikh community towards Pakistan and create divisions within the region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The officials emphasized that India is using disinformation—such as false claims of explosions at army camps, airports, and BSF posts—as a pretext to justify continued aggression against Pakistan.

They further noted that mock drills in Indian-occupied Kashmir were accompanied by a coordinated media campaign to spread baseless propaganda targeting Pakistan.

Earlier in a joint press briefing, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif, firmly rejected India’s allegations of Pakistani strikes on Indian Punjab’s civilian areas. The officials clarified that while India launched missile and drone attacks on Pakistan’s urban centers and military installations in Lahore, Pakistan exercised restraint and did not target any civilian locations. DG ISPR denounced India’s claims as fabricated, pointing out that some of India’s own projectiles landed within its territory, likely part of a disinformation strategy.

Pakistan, while pursuing peace, retains the right to respond appropriately. Forensic examination of the downed Indian drones is ongoing, and officials assured that any retaliation by Pakistan will be decisive and transparent.
