Balochistan Rising: youth leads the charge against terrorism

Quetta – Balochistan is witnessing a remarkable turnaround in its security and development landscape, with an 87% decline in terrorist attacks reported in recent assessments. A new report on peace, law and order, and socio-economic progress in the province attributes this improvement to both the rejection of violence by Baloch tribes and the proactive efforts of security forces.

In 2023, authorities uncovered terrorist networks receiving $12 million in foreign funding, revealing the depth of external influence aimed at destabilizing the province. Groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) have been increasingly isolated and rejected by local communities, who now view them as proxies of foreign intelligence agencies, particularly India’s RAW.

As Pakistan strengthens its internal security, Baloch youth are emerging as a force of change—passing CSS exams, launching startups, and gaining international recognition through programs from Harvard to HEC-funded scholarships. While anti-state elements abroad, like the Baloch Youth Council (BYC), continue to peddle disinformation, the real youth of Balochistan are building careers, shaping the future, and backing national unity.

On the development front, over 5,000MW of power projects are underway to light up the province and support industrial growth. The CPEC-linked Gwadar Port is serving as a cornerstone of economic transformation, generating employment and opening up new commercial avenues.

Infrastructure and social services are also on the rise. The Quetta Development Package is bringing new roads, hospitals, and universities, while education reforms and new highways are reshaping the province’s future.

In the face of ongoing regional tensions with India, the youth of Balochistan have stood firmly with their country and armed forces. They are acutely aware of India’s human rights violations against minorities and its covert involvement in Balochistan’s unrest. With rising awareness and resilience, the people of Balochistan have pledged to stand at the front line if Pakistan’s sovereignty is challenged.
