Fact Check: Viral video of blast in Turbat is old and misleading

QUETTA: In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, India blamed Pakistan and took several aggressive measures, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty. It also evacuated many villages near the Line of Control, pretending military actions against Pakistan. However, after a strong response from Pakistan’s army, India then turned to social media as its battleground to spread misinformation and propaganda against Pakistan.

Take, for example, this video is being shared on social media accounts by Indians. An  Indian based account shared the video and claimed that a blast hit a Pakistan Army convoy.

Another Indian account shared the video with a caption “Video of Blast on Pakistan Army convoy Kills 40 Plus Pakistani soldiers in #Turbat.”

Multiple accounts on Facebook and X shared the video with these claims linking with the recent tension between Pakistan and India following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Burak News Fact Check, however, found that this accident took place before the Pahalgam attack and has no links with recent developments.

Reverse-searching keyframes from the viral video led us to YouTube videos of both Pakistani and Indian media dated January 05. Its description stated that an FC convoy was attacked in Turbat, in which sex people were martyred.

The incident occurred three months ago.

A Pakistan-based Expose Propaganda X account also exposed Indian’s planned propaganda in the context of recent tension between Pakistan and India.  It shared two different screenshots of including the News International story with a caption ‘An FC convoy was attacked in Turbat three months ago. Trying to link this incident with recent events by sharing it today is nothing but a lie aimed at creating fear and panic among people.
