Tank, Pakistan : In a tragic escalation of violence, three traffic police officers were martyred on Monday when unidentified armed assailants launched a brutal ambush on a police mobile vehicle in the Wazirabad Bazaar area of Tank district.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Samad Khan, the heavily armed attackers opened indiscriminate fire on the routine patrol vehicle, resulting in the immediate martyrdom of three officers on board.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Ismatullah, sustained injuries during the shootout and was rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Two passing bystanders were also wounded in the crossfire before the assailants managed to flee the scene.
Following the deadly assault, the terrorists temporarily stole the traffic police mobile vehicle, which was later recovered by law enforcement authorities from the Garah Budha area.
In response to the attack, security forces have sealed off all major highways and pedestrian routes in the district, launching an intensive manhunt and blockade to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
