ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) investigation involving Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq is continuing, with sources claiming that alleged delays in Rizwan’s cooperation have slowed the process.
In this regard, the officials have contacted Rizwan several times and requested his cooperation with the investigation.
However, sources said that investigators have not yet received the response they were seeking.
In such a case, the sources said that communication with Rizwan has not always been possible, while on other occasions the cricketer reportedly indicated that he wanted to consult his lawyer before proceeding.
The agency is expected to contact Rizwan again on Monday. If cooperation is still not forthcoming, sources said the NCCIA could consider issuing a formal notice or taking other action in accordance with the law.
Officials have reportedly offered to send the investigation team to Rizwan if he is unable to visit the agency’s office.
Forensic Examination of Mobile Phone
A key part of the investigation involves the forensic examination of Rizwan’s mobile phone. Sources said the analysis is expected to be conducted in his presence, making his cooperation important to the process.
The sources also said that alternative methods of forensic examination may be available, but warned that such procedures could potentially result in the loss of data.
The investigators have questioned Rizwan about various contacts and communications. Some of his responses were reportedly considered insufficient to resolve questions that arose during the inquiry.
Meanwhile, NCCIA sources said Imam-ul-Haq initially showed some hesitation but subsequently cooperated with the investigation. His mobile phone has reportedly been submitted for forensic analysis.
The agency is expected to formulate recommendations after the forensic examination and other investigative procedures are completed.
NCCIA sources stressed that the investigation remains at an early stage and that no allegation against either cricketer has been established at this point. The findings of the forensic examination are expected to provide further clarity.
The investigation reportedly began after cyber-patrolling activities brought certain material to the agency’s attention. Officials say all proceedings are being conducted in accordance with applicable law.

The investigation is being conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), with the stated objective of determining the facts and reaching a conclusion as soon as possible.
