MUMBAI: Virat Kohli 2027 last World Cup will mark the India batter’s final appearance at the 50-over global tournament, with the veteran confirming that he intends to give everything in pursuit of another World Cup title.
Kohli, 37, is the leading century-maker in ODI cricket with 54 hundreds and has amassed 14,941 runs in the format. After retiring from T20 internationals and Test cricket, the former India captain now remains available only for ODIs.

Speaking to broadcaster JioStar, Kohli said the 2027 tournament would be his final World Cup for India and that winning the trophy would be his main motivation.
The 2027 World Cup is scheduled to be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October to November. It will be Kohli’s fifth ODI World Cup.
Kohli has already experienced World Cup success, helping India win the 2011 tournament on home soil. He was also part of the Indian team that reached the final in 2023 before losing to Australia.
The experienced batter acknowledged the physical and mental demands of a 50-over World Cup, particularly with the next edition being played in overseas conditions.
He described the tournament as an intense challenge, noting that maintaining a high level across a long campaign requires significant effort.
Rohit Sharma also looking ahead to 2027 World Cup
Rohit Sharma, who like Kohli currently represents India only in ODIs, also remains focused on the possibility of another World Cup campaign.
The former India captain said there is always something to look forward to while a player remains active in international cricket.

Kohli and Rohit have both been included in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies.
The opening match of the series is scheduled to take place in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, providing both experienced batters with another opportunity to build toward the next ODI World Cup.
