Pakistan are among the four teams that received direct entry into the quarter-finals based on their rankings. India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also secured automatic places in the knockout stage.
Hong Kong finished behind Malaysia in Group B. Malaysia collected three points to finish at the top of the group and will meet Bangladesh in another quarter-final at Korogi Sports Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The quarter-final between Pakistan and Hong Kong is scheduled for Monday, while the remaining knockout matches will determine the other semi-finalists.
Nepal finish top of Group A after abandoned match
Earlier, Nepal secured top spot in Group A after their match against hosts Japan ended without a result.
Nepal had made an aggressive start after being asked to bat first, reaching 149 for four in 15 overs before the match was abandoned.
The result allowed Nepal to finish first in the group, while Japan ended their campaign at the bottom with one point.
Nepal will now face Sri Lanka in the third quarter-final on Tuesday morning.
Afghanistan to meet India in quarter-final
Afghanistan, who finished second in Group A with two points, will take on India in the second quarter-final on Monday afternoon.
The four quarter-final winners will progress to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for October 1.
The tournament will then conclude with the bronze-medal playoff and gold-medal match on October 3.
With the knockout stage now confirmed, Pakistan’s meeting with Hong Kong will be one of the opening quarter-finals, as both teams look to secure a place in the Asian Games semi-finals.
