ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy ships PNS Hunnain and PNS Yarmook seized more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, with the drugs estimated to be worth around $750 million on the international market, the military said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the naval vessels were conducting routine maritime patrols when they intercepted a suspicious boat.
Naval personnel carried out a boarding operation and conducted a detailed search of the vessel, uncovering a large quantity of narcotics concealed in hidden compartments.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the naval officers and personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism, vigilance and operational readiness.
The naval chief reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to safeguarding maritime security and combating all forms of illegal trafficking and smuggling in the country’s maritime domain.
The operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s continued efforts to prevent the use of maritime routes for illicit activities and strengthen security in the Arabian Sea.
