LAHORE: Police detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sisters, Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan, under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law, officials said on Monday.
The Lahore deputy commissioner issued detention orders for the two women under Section 3 of the MPO on the recommendation of police, according to the district administration.
The orders provide for their detention for 30 days, and the two sisters were transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, according to officials and local media reports.
Their detention came a day after their sister, Aleema Khan, was also detained under the MPO and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail. The move comes ahead of a PTI planned nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad on September 27.
PTI has condemned the detentions and alleged that the arrests were politically motivated. The party has called for Imran Khan’s release and mobilised supporters for the planned protest.

With the detention of Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan, all three of Imran Khan’s sisters have now been detained under MPO orders, according to reports.
