LAHORE: GCU Student Completes 1100km Lahore to Skardu Run in 22 days, covering one of Pakistan’s most challenging long-distance routes on foot. Faizan Ahmed Faiz, a student of Government College University (GCU) Lahore and a member of the Falcon Triathlon Club, completed the demanding endurance journey in Skardu on Thursday, September 17.
Starting from Lahore, Faizan travelled on foot through Gujranwala, Jhelum, Rawalpindi and Islamabad before continuing towards Abbottabad, Naran, Babusar Top, Chilas and Raikot on his way to Skardu.
The approximately 1,100-kilometre route took him across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, exposing him to changing weather conditions, long-distance stages, steep climbs and rugged mountainous terrain.

Faizan’s 22-day endurance challenge involved running through plains as well as demanding mountain roads. The journey adds to his experience in endurance sports and highlights the physical and mental demands of completing such a long-distance route entirely on foot.
Faizan is a third-semester Psychology student at GCU Lahore and has been running for the past eight years. He is also a sports ambassador for the Punjab government.
Just three months before undertaking the Lahore-to-Skardu challenge, Faizan successfully completed an 800-kilometre run.
Journey Dedicated to Armed Forces and Police Martyrs
Faizan dedicated his Lahore-to-Skardu journey to the martyrs of Pakistan’s armed forces and police, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The endurance challenge also aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse, particularly among young people, while encouraging healthier and more constructive activities.
