CAIRO: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held high-level talks in Cairo on strengthening relations between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, with a particular focus on regional security, maritime safety, freedom of navigation and the latest developments in the Middle East.
The meeting took place at Al-Ittihadiya Palace during the Saudi crown prince’s official visit to Egypt. The two leaders held bilateral discussions before expanding the talks to include senior officials from both countries.
President El-Sisi welcomed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Egypt, describing the country as his second home. The Saudi crown prince thanked the Egyptian president for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the longstanding strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. They also discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation across a range of political, economic and security-related areas.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Focuses on Regional and Maritime Security
A major part of the discussions centered on developments affecting the Arab and Islamic worlds and the rapidly changing security environment in the Middle East.
The Saudi and Egyptian leaders discussed regional security and stability, with maritime security and freedom of navigation receiving particular attention. They also considered ways for the two countries to coordinate their efforts in addressing security challenges and supporting stability in the region.
The talks were attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State Dr. Essam bin Saad bin Saeed and Secretary to the Crown Prince Dr. Bandar bin Obaid Al-Rasheed, along with senior Egyptian officials.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had earlier arrived in Cairo for the official visit and was received at Cairo International Airport by President El-Sisi. The visit was made under the direction of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Egypt Condemns Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Separately, Egypt strongly condemned recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, calling them a violation of international law and a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Cairo’s opposition to attacks of this nature and warned that further incidents could deepen tensions in an already volatile Middle East.
The Egyptian government also expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its support for the Kingdom in confronting threats to its security and sovereignty.

Egypt stressed that the national security of Saudi Arabia and Egypt is closely interconnected, highlighting the importance of continued coordination between the two countries as regional tensions persist.
The Cairo talks underscore the strategic importance of Saudi-Egyptian relations and the two governments’ shared interest in strengthening regional stability, protecting maritime routes and maintaining freedom of navigation.
