The IndiGo passenger aircraft was involved in a ground incident at Srinagar Airport after its pilot reportedly struck a parking stand pole while maneuvering the aircraft into position.
The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 225, which had arrived at Srinagar Airport from Mumbai. The aircraft reportedly collided with a pole at the parking stand while being positioned on September 4. A video showing the aircraft making contact with the structure has subsequently circulated widely on social media.
All passengers and crew members aboard the aircraft were reported to be safe following the incident. No injuries have been reported in connection with the collision.
The passengers and crew were subsequently evacuated from the aircraft safely using regular stairs. The incident did not result in any reported casualties, according to the information available from Indian media reports.
The circumstances surrounding the collision have nevertheless drawn attention because the aircraft was reportedly a relatively new Airbus A321, having entered service only around four months earlier.
The aircraft is expected to return to service only after completing the required maintenance procedures and receiving the necessary clearances from the relevant authorities.
Airport Authority Launches Inquiry
The incident has also prompted an investigation by airport authorities. Officials are expected to examine the circumstances that led to the aircraft striking the parking stand pole, including the aircraft’s maneuvering process and ground operations at the airport.
The inquiry could help determine how the incident occurred and whether any operational or technical factors contributed to the collision.
