QUETTA: A renewed spate of violence has gripped Balochistan over recent days, highlighted by a deadly bomb blast, a security clash, and coordinated arson attacks across multiple districts, resulting in at least four fatalities.
The most severe incident occurred in the Loni tehsil of Duki district, where a remote-controlled explosive device detonated near a vehicle in the Killi Bakhtiar Khan area.
According to Duki Police Chief Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar, the victims had rushed to check on their agricultural land following a suspicious phone call regarding damaged solar panels.
The blast claimed the lives of three brothers, while leaving another person injured.
Authorities have launched an immediate investigation into this spate of violence.
Concurrently, escalating instability has also affected the Khadkocha area of Mastung district.
A severe exchange of gunfire between security forces and suspected militants resulted in the tragic death of an innocent fruit contractor hailing from Pishin, who was caught in the crossfire amid ongoing clearance operations against banned outfits.
Meanwhile, the border town of Mashkel in Washuk district witnessed a major security breach when a large group of armed attackers stormed the area.
The assailants targeted state infrastructure, setting fire to a local police station and a customs office while looting weapons before fleeing.
This incident follows a previous attack in July that targeted non-local laborers, underscoring the persistent security challenges in the border region.
Balochistan remains a critical security flashpoint, driven by a persistent insurgency led by ethno-nationalist separatist groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) alongside Islamist militant factions.
The region has witnessed a surge in coordinated, large-scale assaults targeting security infrastructure, highways, state installations, and civilian populations.
Rooted in long-standing socio-economic grievances, demands for regional autonomy, and opposition to major economic projects, these violent incidents have severely tested state counter-terrorism mechanisms.
In response, Pakistani security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations and province-wide clearance campaigns to curb the escalating violence and stabilize the volatile border regions.
