MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gillani has assured students, businesses and the public that internet services at educational institutions will be restored within days, while restrictions on road links connecting AJK with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also be removed shortly.
In this regard, Gillani said his government was focused on restoring normal life and addressing the difficulties faced by people following recent protests and disruptions.
The prime minister said the disruption of internet services had affected educational activities and created difficulties for students. He described the educational losses being suffered by children as a major concern for his government.
Gillani said he would make every effort to ensure that internet services at educational institutions were restored within the next few days, allowing teaching and learning activities to resume normally.
Gillani also acknowledged the financial difficulties faced by businesses, particularly in Mirpur, because of the internet shutdown and recent unrest.
He said the government was working on a policy to address the losses suffered by the business community and revive commercial activity.
“We will try to restore business activity and help recover the losses,” he said, stressing the need to create conditions that would allow businesses to operate normally.
The AJK premier also gave assurances regarding restrictions on routes connecting the region with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the closures would be removed within a day or two and promised that there would be no unnecessary restrictions or hindrances to public movement.
Gillani said his government wanted to bring political forces and the people of AJK together and create an environment focused on development rather than division.
PM Highlights Development and Green Bus Initiative
During the visit, Gillani also inspected green electric buses provided to AJK by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He thanked Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for fulfilling their commitment to provide electric buses to AJK, saying the initiative was aimed at improving public transport and reducing hardships for citizens.
Gillani also praised the federal government’s development initiatives, including the establishment of Danish schools in four AJK districts.
The prime minister later left for Lahore, where he was scheduled to meet PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday.

He also urged the media and political forces to promote a positive environment, saying collective efforts were necessary to build a more educated, developed and prosperous AJK.
