QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has claimed that security forces foiled an attempt by Fitna al-Hindustan to use two minor girls in a suicide attack in southern Balochistan.
In this regard, Langau alleged that the girls, identified as 16-year-old Zainab and 12-year-old Fatima, were allegedly influenced by militants and taken from the Makran region.
The girls were held for around 40 days and allegedly subjected to pressure to carry out a suicide bombing.
The minister did not provide independent evidence during the press conference to substantiate the allegations, and the claims could not be independently verified from the information provided.
Langau said the incident demonstrated what he described as an attempt by militants to exploit vulnerable young people for terrorist activities.
He alleged that the girls were taken to mountainous areas and subjected to ideological and psychological influence.
He also expressed concern over how the minors were able to leave their homes and urged greater awareness among families regarding attempts by militant groups to recruit young people.
The minister said security forces were continuing operations against militant groups across Balochistan and claimed that forces had prevented several attacks despite ongoing security challenges.
“If one incident occurs, security forces prevent 10 incidents,” he said, highlighting the role of security agencies in counterterrorism efforts.
Langau further said the provincial government was working to provide children with access to education, healthcare and other opportunities, stressing that young people should be protected from militant recruitment and extremist influence.
Alleged Killings Linked to Militant Recruitment
The minister also alleged that members of the group had killed between eight and 10 members of Zainab’s family, including her husband. He further claimed that a man identified as Saif was killed after refusing to work with the organisation.
According to Langau, following Saif’s killing, a local militant commander allegedly established contact with his widow, Zainab.
The allegations come amid continuing security concerns in Balochistan, where authorities have reported militant activity and counterterrorism operations.
The government has maintained that security forces are taking measures to prevent attacks and protect civilians, particularly vulnerable groups such as children.
