KIVY: At least 10 people have been killed in Ukraine’s retaliatory drone strikes targeting locations inside Russia and occupied territories, escalating cross-border hostilities amid a sharp uptick in aerial warfare.

According to news agency reports, Ukraine has claimed responsibility for attacking an oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, while additional drone assaults damaged several industrial facilities in the same area. A logistics center belonging to a major Russian online retail company was also struck, resulting in an immediate halt to its operations. The Russian Defense Ministry, meanwhile, asserted that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down a staggering 457 Ukrainian drones over various regions.

Reacting to the onslaught, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning, stating that Ukraine’s attacks are tantamount to opening a “Pandora’s box” and would invite severe Russian retaliation.

The latest Ukrainian offensive comes just a day after a massive Russian drone attack on the central Ukrainian city of Krivoy Rog, which killed at least 15 people and injured more than 130 others, underscoring the rapidly intensifying cycle of strikes between the two warring nations. Both sides have yet to release full casualty figures from the recent exchanges.
