The Balochistan High Court Bar Association has strongly condemned what it described as “misleading and controversial” statements issued by some members of the Pakistan Bar Council, saying that collective institutions of the legal fraternity should not be used to advance the interests of any individual or group.
In this regard, the press release released by the President of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, Mir Attaullah Lango, said differences and political matters within the lawyers’ community should remain confined to the lawyers themselves.
He stressed that bar institutions represent the collective interests of the entire legal fraternity rather than those of any particular individual.
In this sense, Attaullah Lango maintained that collective platforms of lawyers must not be used to support an individual or serve personal interests.
He urged members of the legal community to avoid issuing controversial statements through institutional forums.
He said the dignity, independence and sanctity of lawyers’ institutions must be protected under all circumstances.

Emphasis on Independence and Autonomy
The Balochistan High Court Bar Association further stated that the history of bar politics shows that lawyers’ institutions have never remained under the pressure or influence of any individual.
Lango said lawyers would not compromise on their independence, autonomy or principled position.
He also warned against attempts to use lawyers’ platforms for personal, political or group-based objectives.
Lawyers’ Community Expresses Concern
The association said the current situation has generated significant concern and resentment among members of the lawyers’ community. It reiterated that every effort should be made to preserve the credibility and institutional standing of representative bodies.
The association called for restraint and responsibility in the use of collective platforms, particularly when issuing public statements on sensitive matters involving the legal fraternity.
The Balochistan High Court Bar Association stressed that lawyers’ institutions belong to the entire legal community and cannot be treated as platforms for the interests of an individual or group.
