‘Only Graveyards Are Developing in Balochistan,’ Says Hafiz Hamdullah

QUETTA: Senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Balochistan, saying insecurity, missing persons, military operations, bomb blasts and economic hardship have severely affected residents.

In a statement shared on social media, Hamdullah said the province’s situation was marked by deaths, blocked highways, disrupted trade, damaged businesses and shortages of gas and electricity.

He also said Balochistan’s people remained deprived of control over their coastline and natural resources. Meanwhile, he described the security situation as alarming.

According to Hamdullah, transport vehicles face attacks regularly, while several areas continue to witness violence.

As a result, he said ordinary citizens were being forced to live amid fear and uncertainty.

The JUI-F leader also criticised the political situation in the province. He said questions remained over public representation and respect for voters’ choices.

Hamdullah questioned whether the situation in Balochistan offered a warning about the country’s wider future.

“If Balochistan is facing such conditions, is the whole country also heading in the same direction?” he asked.

He called for serious discussion on Balochistan’s problems at the highest levels of government.

However, he said the required political response was not visible.

Hamdullah further claimed that if anything was expanding in Balochistan, it was cemeteries receiving the bodies of Baloch and Pashtun people.

He described the situation as deeply distressing and called for effective measures to address the province’s longstanding problems.
