ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan Niazi was brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in the capital during the night between August 20 and 21 for a comprehensive medical examination and treatment, hospital authorities confirmed on Saturday.
According to an official statement, the medical evaluation involved a multidisciplinary approach. Two specialist consultants from Shifa International Hospital were called in to conduct a thorough ophthalmological assessment, while all other required examinations were performed by the relevant PIMS specialists.
The medical board, comprising doctors from PIMS, compiled the final consolidated medical fitness report after integrating the clinical input from the eye examination with the results of the various investigations conducted at the state-run facility.
In a statement regarding the outcome, PIMS officials emphasized that the clinical contents of the medical report would remain confidential. The hospital cited patient privacy laws and the explicit directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan as the basis for withholding the detailed findings from public disclosure.
No further details regarding Mr. Khan’s current health status or the nature of his treatment were made available.
