Field Marshal Vows to Defeat Threats to Balochistan’s Stability

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday said the future of Balochistan and Pakistan was “one and forever,” stressing that lasting peace and stability were essential to unlocking the province’s economic potential.

Speaking to political leaders, notables and representatives of civil society from Balochistan, the army chief said the province was endowed with talented, resilient and patriotic people as well as abundant human and natural resources.

He maintained that a clear national narrative, coupled with enduring peace and stability, was necessary to attract investment, promote development and translate Balochistan’s resources into tangible prosperity for its people.

Furthermore, Field Marshal Munir stressed that Balochistan’s youth represented the province’s most vibrant and promising segment, adding that there was no shortage of talent or opportunities among young people. He said empowering the youth and providing them with opportunities to contribute to national progress remained central to sustainable development.

On security, the COAS & CDF said Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan were foreign-sponsored proxies being used by hostile elements to destabilise Balochistan, hinder its development and create divisions between the state and its people.

However, he said such designs would be defeated through collective national resolve and a firm, decisive response from the state.

Meanwhile, Field Marshal Munir appreciated the role of Balochistan’s political leaders, notables and community representatives in promoting peace, strengthening social cohesion and advancing constructive national discourse.

He also called for a comprehensive response to hostile propaganda, urging society to expose what he described as false narratives while highlighting Balochistan’s potential, development and aspirations.

“Destiny of Balochistan rests only in the hands of the people of Balochistan,” he emphasised.

The participants, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Balochistan and Pakistan. They also pledged to stand alongside the state and armed forces against what they described as foreign-sponsored threats to peace and stability.

Moreover, they resolved to contribute to people-centric development aimed at building a peaceful, stable and prosperous Balochistan, while countering what they termed hostile narratives and propaganda.
