KANDAHAR: Residents of Mandisar village in Kandahar’s Daman district of Afghanistan are facing severe shortages of clean drinking water as groundwater levels have fallen by between 20 and 40 metres, according to Tolo News.
The sharp decline in underground water has disrupted daily life and placed additional pressure on local agriculture, with residents struggling to secure enough water for drinking and farming.
Local elders Juma Gul and Mohammad Sadiq said access to clean drinking water is the community’s most urgent need.
They also called for immediate repairs to badly damaged roads, saying poor road conditions have added to the difficulties faced by residents.
The elders urged the authorities to take immediate steps to address the water shortage and repair the damaged roads, warning that the worsening conditions are putting further strain on the village’s residents and agricultural activities.
